Extracurricular Activities
A rich education includes giving children the opportunity to have a wide variety of experiences beyond the classroom. At St. Rose of Lima School, there are extra-curricular programs that offer something for every student.

These activities allow students to develop deeper relationships with their classmates, teachers and coaches. At St. Rose of Lima School parents play a significant role in bringing these activities to life. Participation in extracurricular activities is encouraged as it helps builds a strong community at St Rose of Lima
Athletics
The purpose of the St. Rose program is to promote teamwork, school pride, and enjoyment of athletics, as well as to program contribute to the physical, mental, and social development of students. Depending on the interest of students and availability of coaches, St. Rose students in grades 5-8 can participate in the following sports:
- Fall—Football, Soccer, Volleyball
- Winter—Basketball, Hockey
- Spring— Baseball, Softball, Track
Students are recognized for their participation at an athletic banquet in the spring.

Fine Arts
Band
Through a partnership with Hill-Murray High School’s Band Program, St. Rose is able to offer weekly individual and group instrumental instruction to students in grades 4-8. Participation in band is optional, and no previous experience is necessary. Students progress from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced Band and perform concerts at least twice a year.
Academic Enrichment
Artist-in-Residence—A Home and School sponsored program to supports the Arts and Art Education experience at St. Rose. Each year, an artists are selected who act as mentors or educators to students. Last year, Indonesian music expert Joko Sutrisno did an excellent job of sharing his experience, knowledge and musical talent with our elementary students.
Field Trips—St. Rose students have the opportunity to go on a variety of field trips for enrichment and fun. Our annual traditions include:
Junior Achievement—Volunteers visit elementary classrooms to teach students about economics and business.
Junior Great Books—This optional pull-out program provides an opportunity for students in grades 1-5 to read and discuss great works of children’s literature with trained parent volunteers once a week for six weeks in the spring. New and used books are available for participants to purchase.
Summer Academy—St. Rose faculty teach enrichment courses on a wide variety of topics during two week-long summer sessions. Classes meet daily, in the morning or afternoon.
