Welcome to Mrs. Rossini's page!
6th Grade Science: The students are
learning that Earth is a living planet and what makes something living
as opposed to nonliving. They stained and studied cells under the
microscope. We are presently studying how cells reproduce and
learning all about DNA. They know about the nucleotide base pairs and
how they are paired on the DNA ladder and how they copy or duplicate
before the nucleus and then the cell can divide.
7th grade Science: We are presently learning the structure of the cell and the functions
of each organelle in the cell. This includes the two types of cell
division; mitosis and meiosis. We are learning the difference between a
virus and a bacterium, what diseases each cause and how they reproduce
in the cell. The students are in the process of selecting a disease to
report on and will write a paper with a bibliography and give an oral
presentation.
8th grade Science: We are studying the atom and the periodic
table. They must know how to construct an atom from the information
provided on the periodic table and report on one element of their
choosing. The report must include a visual aid of a model of the atom
of the element they chose. Ask your child what the vocabulary word for
the week is.....and how successful they have been at getting something
from the "vocab" jar????!!! |
