Lenten Almsgiving Opportunities

Local - First Sunday Food Collection for the Keystone Community Services food shelf here in Roseville.  Food donations may be placed on the sanctuary steps before Masses on March 6 & 7.

Regional - The Confirmation Candidates are collecting for Joseph's Coat, a "free" store in downtown Saint Paul serving the homeless.  New or gently used sheets and towels are  welcome.  Socks and underwear are needed not only for men but also for children, especially girls.  Toiletries, especially travel size, are in need.  Collection boxes will be at the church entrances March 1-19.  All items will be delivered March 20.

World - Our customary Almsgiving Bowl which sits in the center aisle during Lent is designated this year for ongoing relief for the earthquake victims in Haiti.  The funds will be distributed through Friends of the Orphans which supports the work of Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos.  One of the nine NPH homes is in Haiti.  In addition there is a hospital, St. Damien's, which is run by priest/doctor Fr Rick Frechette who is the NPH Director in Haiti.  For more information and almost daily updates from Haiti please click here to go to
Friends of the Orphans.

Complete Lenten Information is found in our newsletter,

Changes in the Mass

The new English translation of the Roman Missal is expected to be approved sometime in 2010.  The actual start date for using the new Missal has not yet been announced.  The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has set up a website for you to get an idea of the coming changes.  To go to this website, click here on
