RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GRADES ONE THROUGH EIGHT
Program Time:

Classes meet September through April on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in our parish school. Our program calendars for the 2007-08 year will be available in August.

Program Faculty and Staff:

Our educational team consists of Professional Catechists, that is, degreed, licensed teachers, a full-time director, Priests, musicians and parent volunteers as teaching assistants in many classrooms, and leading our Student Liturgy Club.

In most cases, individual tutoring by trained volunteers can be arranged on site for students when circumstances dictate. A Home Schooling option is also available.

Program Content:

Our parish objectives have steadfastly focused on educational excellence. Fully complying with religion standards in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, for grades one through six, we use Faith First Legacy Edition by RCL (Resources for Christian Living) Publications, and God’s Own Making, Catholic Values of Human Sexuality by Sadlier Publications, as a take-home course for grades three through seven.

In grades seven and eight, we once again draw on RCL for courses in Jesus in the New Testament, Morality: Life in Christ, Church and Sacraments, and currently from Sadlier Publications, Church History.

Program enhancements for our students and their families include Penance Services, community service projects, a Liturgy Club where students are given the opportunity and training to participate in Masses and prayer services, A Communication Workshop for eighth grade students and their parents on discussing their family’s Faith values and the difficult choices surrounding sexuality, chemical and internet use, and workshops designed to help parents and students prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. (A more detailed description of these workshops can be found under our Sacramental Preparation section.)
