Information For Food Shelf Volunteers
Saint Rose of Lima is pleased and proud to have a large group of parish volunteers who assist clients and stock shelves in the Keystone Community Services Food Shelf. The food shelf is now located in the Hamline Center, 2833 North Hamline Avenue, Roseville. It was delightful to be included in Keystone’s 2008 Annual Report on new service start-ups. You can view the Keystone article here.
Volunteers work Tuesday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Training is provided by Keystone and scheduling is done through the Saint Rose Faith Formation Office. For the current volunteer schedule for December 2016 to February 2017, click here. If you would like additional information about this outreach, please contact Faith Formation Director, Deborah McPherson, at 651-357-1212.
To Donate Food: On the first weekend of every month, parishioners are encouraged to bring food donations with them to Mass, and deposit them in the alcoves around the worship space. In addition, food can be brought to Saint Rose Church before any scheduled daily or Sunday Mass and left in boxes at two main parking lot entrances.
To Receive Food from a Keystone Food Shelf:
Visit the Keystone website at www.keystonecommunityservices.org or call Basic Needs Director, Christine Pulver, at 651-487-2792, ext.102.
Meals on Wheels
Spend an hour and a half every three weeks (Tuesday) as a volunteer driver for our Meals on Wheels Team. Saint Rose of Lima participates along with other congregations in delivering noon meals to area seniors and disabled adults. Seasonal, substitute, and standby drivers are needed to fulfill our parish’s commitment to this vital ministry. Contact the Parish Office at 651-645-9389 for more information and to volunteer.
Loaves and Fishes
Our parish provides a nutritious and satisfying meal on the third Thursday of each month at Saint Matthew’s parish dining hall in the west-side neighborhood of Saint Paul. Our sponsor, Loaves and Fishes, has served the Twin Cities for the past 25 years. Last year all the volunteer serving teams served well over 300,000 guests at eight dining sites. Contact the Parish Office at 651-645-9389 for more information and to volunteer.
Help the 5th grade Girl Scouts organize opportunities for parishioners to give gifts to people with limited resources at Christmas time. You can help with decorating the giving tree, sorting, and delivering of gifts. Contact the Parish Office at 651-645-9389 for more information and to volunteer.
This outreach is an Ecumenical effort of 14 churches in the north suburban area. Holy Hammers has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to construct one house per year for the last 12 years. The commitment of Saint Rose Parish is to provide funding and volunteer labor to build the homes. If you are intersted in this effort, contact Don Sobania at 651-645-1322.
